A local doctor’s medical license is currently under fire for reporting to traffic court from his surgery room. Plastic surgeon, Dr. Scott Green, appeared on a Zoom call with a California judge while inside an operating room.

Major concerns of safety have been brought up because a patient was also inside the room. Green did assure the judge another surgeon was in the room conducting the procedure and that Green was able to safely participate in traffic court. The trial was quickly rescheduled as the judge announced he was not comfortable with proceeding while Green was in the midst of his duties.

Green is now being investigated by the Medical Board of California in regards to professional misconduct.

“The Medical Board of California expects physicians to follow the standard of care when treating their patients,” a spokesperson said in a statement. “The Board is aware of this incident and will be looking into it, as it does with all complaints it receives.”

What does a medical license investigation mean?

Although this is a unique circumstance, many healthcare professionals face similar investigations from their California boards. These allegations of misconduct can jeopardize your career and your reputation, leaving your livelihood at risk. And in many cases, you may not know the full extent of your allegations.

How can you protect your career during an investigation?

If your medical license is under investigation, you have several options.

Hire a Medical License Lawyer

Not only will a medical license attorney assist in reviewing any discovery, but they will provide a mitigation packet to assist in settlement negotiations, and represent you at any hearing in front of your board.

Contact Hospital / Clinic Administration

Your administration may be able to shed additional light on the details of your accusation. You can also get support from Human Resources on managing the allegation process and understanding the hospital’s or clinic’s policies.

Gather Evidence

With the help of a professional license defense attorney, you can gather evidence against your accusation and make a list of those that may be willing to write a positive moral character recommendation on your behalf. The more support you have, the better chance you have of protecting your career.
