Have you ever noticed how people tend to rush through their introductions at networking events? I did and wanted to change that.

I took a tip from Amy Cuddy’s book Presence. I took space, in the form of pauses, when I introduced myself at my last virtual event. And you know what, it was a little awkward at first but it made me more at ease.

Taking space – whether physical or with time – can reduce anxiety and stress while helping you stay present (and breathe!). To others, it conveys confidence that you belong there and are taking up – owning – your space.
