I’ve titled my 2025 “LMNOP”
Every December, I sit down and give the coming year a name. It’s more than just a tradition at this point — it’s a practice that sets the tone for everything I’ll do over the next 12 months.
And this year, I’ve named 2025: LMNOP.
But before we dive into what that means, let’s talk about the practice itself — because naming a year isn’t about setting a theme or an intention…it’s about time-traveling.
Why Name a Year?
Think about it like this: You’re standing at the edge of December 2025. It’s New Year’s Eve, 11:59 PM. You’re looking back at the year that just passed, and you’re saying, “That was a great year.”
Now — ask yourself: What made it great? What happened that made you feel fulfilled, excited, or proud?
Once you know that, give it a name. A title that ties together the major moments, lessons, and accomplishments you expect to happen.
This isn’t about wishful thinking.
It’s about intentionality.
When you name the year, you create a mental framework — a lens that sharpens your focus and helps you recognize the opportunities when they appear.
For example:
- 2023 was Ukiyo, inspired by the art and leisure of Japan’s Edo period, a year about enjoying life’s moments.
- 2024 was Verses, focusing on using my voice — through music, writing, and speaking — to influence and inspire.
And now?
LMNOP — The Big Projects for 2025
What will give LMNOP meaning by the end next year, here are the three major things I’m working on for 2025:
1) Launching an App
It’s finally happening. After more than a decade of work, this app — designed around events to bring empathy back into the world — is going live in the App Store by Christmas 2025.
This isn’t just about launching an app. It’s about launching a movement — one that encourages connection, compassion, and conversation.
2) Working in Systems
This year, my focus is on systems thinking, frameworks, and the power of process.
It’s not about creating something new anymore — I believe I’ve already done that, across several of the projects in my life.
2025 is about building structure. Like the alphabet, it’s about organizing chaos into patterns that work — step-by-step, logical systems instead of the rapid-fire blur of past years.
3) BIG Change
You may have heard that the classic alphabet song is evolving — a shift away from the familiar way many of us learned to sing “LMNOP” as one quick blur.
That same kind of shift is happening in my life. It’s a progression away from the blur of the last few years and into a reorganization of how I move through the world.
How will LMNOP come to life?
At its core, LMNOP is about progression — moving from one step to the next in a deliberate, methodical way.
It’s also about structure — recognizing that good systems create freedom. I’ve said it for years, more structure fosters further creativity. 100%!!! Every time.
This isn’t just about 2025. It’s about 2025 being the beginning of a foundation I’ll come to rely on for years to come.
If you’ve never named a year before, I encourage you to give it a try.
Think about the version of you standing at the end of 2025 — what story will they tell? What are the three big things that will happen next year?
Once you know the answer, give it a name.
In fact, this past December, I hosted my first-ever Name Your Year Party, where friends and peers gathered to reflect on their journeys and set intentions for the year ahead.
We kicked off the evening by sharing:
- 3 great things that happened in 2024
- 3 pictures from the year
- 3 things we’re planning to do in 2025
- And, of course, the name we’re giving our 2025.
It was a night filled with stories, laughter, and inspiration — proof that naming your year doesn’t just set a personal intention; it can also spark conversations, connections, and community.
So if you’re ready to name your 2025, don’t keep it to yourself — share it with me! I’d love to hear what 2025 will mean to you.
