If you don’t have all of the business you want, you might not have a competence or experience problem. In fact, the chances are you do not.
You most likely have a differentiation challenge. Prospective clients and even probable strategic partners see you as the exact same as your competitors.
When you’re being evaluated against three other ProVisors who do what you do, are they observing nearly identical websites, similar credentials, and comparable promises? Are they thinking, I already know seventeen fractional marketing consultants, executive coaches, or bankers?
You know you’re different. But they sure don’t. (Not yet, anyway.)
What will break the tie? If you’ve heard me present at a ProVisors group, you know I’m biased toward books. (Yes, even in this AI-driven, high-tech world, books are still a huge differentiator.) But not just any book, and certainly not a 300-page tome that busy professionals perceive as something they don’t have time to read.
Allow me to suggest something you may not have heard before:
A short, well-crafted book says everything your bio can’t—your philosophy, the results of your proprietary process, and your perspective—in your voice.
It’s you, distilled and packaged in a way that’s impossible to ignore.
Your competitors, if they have a book, most likely have a generic, prescriptive how-to manual that practically teaches readers to DIY it. (FYI–that’s not the type of book that grows a business. That’s a book that feels like homework. Just sayin’.)
While they will reap the massive benefits of having a book and being an author, they won’t be able to say their book is a force multiplier in their business.
The Trusted Advisors I work with aren’t writing books to be on a bestseller list. They’re writing best earning books that grow their top-line revenue by positioning them to be the obvious choice for immediate engagement. They can walk into any ProVisors event, connect with a new referral, or hold a sales conversation knowing their book is going to close the deal.
Remember: Having a book to hand out makes you stand out. Every. Single. Time.
Should we talk about what yours could do for your business?
