Creating Your 2021 Vision Board
You may think vision boards are cheesy, pointless, and unsuccessful, however, they offer a great avenue to organize your goals for the next year. A vision board is quite literally a physical representation of your goals. For a vision board to actually work effectively, you have to engage with it. It should serve as motivation to work toward your goals and make them a reality.
Reasons to create a vision board

Vision boards allow you to analyze what you truly desire in life.
Setting aside time to create a vision board allows you to reflect on what you want in life and your goals for the future. Taking the time to focus on your goals, rather than just thinking about them, gives you the opportunity to craft a plan to achieve them. According to Forbes, people who vividly describe or picture their goals are anywhere from 1.2-1.5 times more likely to accomplish those goals.
They give you the opportunity to move forward.
It can be easy to get caught up in the day-to-day checklists of life. When you are going through the motions of your day, you rarely have the opportunity to move forward in the goals you have for your future. Vision boards are a great way to channel your creativity in a productive way. Give yourself the space to get out of your funk, get creative, and let the juices flow!
Vision boards allow you to connect with your goals.
Seeing your vision board daily helps you stay motivated and passionate about reaching your goals. When you see something that inspires you on a daily basis, you are more likely to stay on track with those goals. Seeing your board every day also constantly reminds you of those goals, therefore you can more easily recognize when opportunities arise.
Let’s get started!
Recently, our team at Culture Works created vision boards as a team-building activity. We set goals for the coming year as a team and shared what our visions look like. Here are the guidelines we followed for our vision boards:
Identify your vision:
Who are you? Who do you want to be? What do you want to bring into your life? What do you want to focus on? When identifying your vision, start by asking yourself these questions:
- What do you want?
- What are your mindset and personal motto?
- What brings you joy?
- How do you want to feel?
- What do you want to be?
- Where do you want to go?
- What do you want to do?
- What goals are important to you?
- Is there anything you want to work on?
- Is there anything you want to say loud and proud for accountability?
- Are the goals achievable?
- Do you have the habits and means to attain them?
Once you’ve identified your vision, create your mantra. This should include your 2021 mindset, your purpose, your 2021 intention, and your personal motto. After you’ve set your mantra for the year, it’s time to set your goals. What are your professional and personal goals? Next, think about your bucket list, what do you want to do? Lastly, what is your focus?
Once you’ve identified each of these goals, think about the law of attraction. What do you want to experience in life if time and money weren’t a factor? What do you want to contribute to this world? What are you? Why are you here? Where are you going? How do you want to be remembered when you’re gone? What is most important in your life? What do you value most? What are you passionate about?
Finally, create your board!
Don’t get caught up in making your board compare to others’ around you. Everyone’s board will look different, that’s the point! Focus on making your board unique to you. It is a reflection of you and it will be PERFECT. Begin to choose images that represent the goals you’ve identified. Get creative, use large background images, small pictures, drawings, stickers, and words … whatever your heart desires!
