As I often discuss with financial advisors, attorneys, insurance agents, bankers, realtors, accountants, digital marketers, M&A brokers, private equity bankers, and others that find business development, origination, and sales important, here’s how to be awesome! (Wow, long sentence!)

Participate in Scheduled Events and Meetings Regularly
Register at the beginning of the month for all events you plan on attending.

Own Your Calendar
Block other meetings from interfering with registered meetings. Yes, sales meetings too!

Be Reliable and in Communication
Life happens, be in touch with organizers and leaders. Never “no-show”!

Be a Leader and Have Intention
Volunteer, get involved, take charge as appropriate, help, coach, learn, teach.

Contribute Ideas, Demonstrate Energy and Positivity
Focus on solutions and improvements that help everyone.

Invite Awesome Guests
Birds of a feather and all of that. Bring guests that make you look good!

Be an Awesome Guest
This would require “guesting” at other group meetings,

Get to Know Fellow Members
Those with similar energy, target markets, and other synergies.

Be Clear and Specific When Speaking
Best to be short, sweet, and to the point while honoring timeframes.

Utilize Website and Available Resources (The Hub)
What are ways of leveraging your membership? Affinity Groups? (Posting articles like this?)

Be Attentive, Listen, and Be Present (Minimal Multi-Tasking)
Take notes and make the meeting your priority.

Generate Quality Introductions and Referrals
Focus on ways to help fellow group members grow their business.

Follow Up ASAP
Act on promises within 24 hours if possible. Don’t make others follow up with you!

Of course, these awesome ways of being apply to all networking groups, meetings, and most business-related events. Amazing how many people don’t take advantage of simply being awesome.

Being awesome = awesome results!
